The Bay Breakers host the Boston Banshees in the second ‘Battle of the B’s’ of the 2026 WER season, this time at Heart Health Stadium in Sacramento, CA!

These teams last met at Veteran’s Memorial Stadium in Quincy, MA back in Round 5 when the Breakers took a 25-40 home victory. This is the 4th meeting between these sides, with the Breakers holding a 2-1 series lead heading into the game. The travelling Banshees are sat on a 1-5 record in 5th place, just a single point up on the Chicago Tempest and with the end of the season in sight, they will be eager to get a win and starting moving up that table. The Breakers on the other hand, are at the top of the table with a 5-1 record but are in a 3-way fight with the TC Gemini and Denver Onyx, both of whom won their games this weekend so the Breakers need a win to hold on to the top spot.

Unlike many games of the WER season so far, this one got off to a slow start. The Banshees opened the scoring through Lauryn Carlton after 16 minutes, and held a 0-7 lead for all of 3 minutes before the Breakers hit back with a try of their own from Emily Nelson. The score stayed at 7-7 until the half hour mark when the Breakers took their first lead of the game, and extended it to 19-7 through Nikki Lynch on the stroke of half-time. The start of the 2nd half was all Breakers, scoring 3 tries between the restart and the hydration break to race out to a 38-7 lead before the Banshees got on the board again in the 63rd minute, but by this point the hosts were in full control. A pair of tries from Tapaita Satini sandwiched a Banshees try from Canadian Natalie Armatage in the final 13 minutes, and to put the game to bed, Nikki Lynch scored her 3rd try of the game on the final play to secure her hat trick in a big 57-19 win for the Breakers.

The Bay Breakers retain 1st place in the WER standings heading into the international break, improving to 6-1 on the season so far. The Boston Banshees record mirrors this, falling to 1-6 but staying ahead of the Tempest, they remain 5th.
