The Chicago Tempest host the Bay Breakers at Martin Stadium in Northwestern University during Round 7 of WER’s inagural season!

Both teams are coming off of losses in Round 6. The Tempest are looking for a strong response after being shut out at home last week at the hands of the league-leading Denver Onyx, while the Bay Breakers fell in a closely fought contest with the TC Gemini. This is the first meeting between these sides in the WER era.

The Chicago Tempest host the Denver Onyx in Round 6 of WER’s inaugural season! This is a top v bottom clash, as the undefeated Onyx take on the winless Tempest. The Onyx are have scored over 60 points in every game so far this season, and have yet to concede more than 20pts, so this will be an tough day out for the Tempest. These teams have met once in the past, with the Onyx taking an enormous 76-7 home victory in Round 4.

The Onyx would increase their series lead to 2-0 with a convincing 41-0 victory over the Tempest on the road. At a 41pt winning margin, this is down from the 67pt defeat of their last meeting, but the Tempest will be disappointed to have been shut out at home. This marks the first shutout in WER history.

The Chicago Tempest host the undefeated Boston Banshees at Martin Field in Northwestern University. The Tempest are looking to kick start their season and are still looking for their first victory with a 0-2 record. The Boston Banshees have the complete opposite record, sitting 2-0 and 2nd in the table coming into this game. This is the first time that these two teams have ever faced each other.

A convincing victory for the Boston Banshees concludes a round of one-sided results throughout WER. The 12-65 final score marks the 2nd most points ever scored by a side, behind the 66pts scored by the Bay Breakers just 1 game before. It is the biggest winning margin in Banshees history and the most points ever scored by an away team. The Banshees improve to 3-0 and top the standings after 3 rounds, while the Tempest sink to a 0-3 record at the other end of the table.

The Chicago Tempest host the New York Exiles in Round 2 of the inaugural season of Women’s Elite Rugby (WER). Both sides are coming off of losses in Round 1, and will be looking to bounce back.

The New York Exiles emerged as comfortable winners with a 17-48 bonus point victory. The Exiles set single game team records for points (48) and tries scored (7), and their 48pts is the 2nd highest score in WER ever! This game was also the 2nd highest scoring game in WER history at the time, with 65pts scored
