Matt Jensen

Pennsylvania native Matt Jensen played in Major League Rugby between 2018-2021, and again between 2024-2025. He represented the Utah Warriors for his entire MLR career.

Jensen was the captain of his high school football team and made All-Star teams for both offensive and defensive lines. After graduation from high school, Jensen moved to Utah and attended Brigham Young University where he was a walk-on defensive tackle for the BYU Cougars football team before serving a 2 year mission to Paraguay. Upon his return, Jensen committed to playing rugby and won two National Championships while at BYU and toured Queensland, Australia with an All-Americans side. He was honored as a first-team Collegiate All-American in both 2016 & 2017. In February of 2017, Jensen earned his test debut with the USA as Eagle #506 against Uruguay in the ARC, and earned 7 caps for his country through to his most recent cap in March of 2018, also against Uruguay.

Matt Jensen represented the Utah Warriors as Warrior #6 for the first 4 seasons on Major League Rugby between 2018-2021. In total, Jensen earned 43 MLR caps for the Warriors in that time, starting 41 times including once in his 2 Championship Series caps. He scored 3 tries in total and has earned 8 MLR Team of the Week selections. Following the 2021 MLR season, Jensen announced his retirement on 31st August 2021. On 22nd January 2024, the Utah Warriors announced the return of Matt Jensen for the 2024 MLR season after 2 seasons out of the league. Jensen scored 1 try in 11 games (9 starts) for the Warriors during their difficult 2024 season, earning a Team of the Week selection for his performance in Rd 10.

On November 15th, 2024, the Utah Warriors announced the return of 6’7 Matt Jensen for the 2025 MLR season, his 6th in MLR.

Saia ‘Uhila

Tongan lock Saia ‘Uhila has played in Major League Rugby since the league’s inaugural season in 2018. He has represented the Utah Warriors for his entire MLR career.

a long time Utah resident playing with the Utah Brothers, the Warriors announced the signing of Saia ‘Uhila in December 2017 ahead of the league’s inaugural 2018 season. ‘Uhila appeared in all 9 Warriors games in 2018, including the 34-21 MLR Semi-Final loss to the Glendale (later Colorado) Raptors. As of the conclusion of the 2023 season ‘Uhila was one of the most capped players in MLR, having earned 69 caps (44 starts) across his 6 seasons in the competition, all for the Warriors. He has scored 6 tries in total, 2 each in 2018, 2020 (in only 5 games) and 2022.

On 26th October 2023, the Utah Warriors announced that they had signed 36yo Saia ‘Uhila for the 2024 MLR season, where he earned another 13 appearances (10 starts) and scoring another try to take his total to 7. He passed 2,500m gained and 500 tackles in his MLR career in 2024. On November 12th 2024, the Warriors announced the return of ‘Uhila for his 8th MLR season in 2025.

Lance Williams

Hawaiian native Lance Williams played in Major League Rugby between 2018-2023, and again from 2025-2026. He represented the Utah Warriors (2018-2025) and the California Legion (2026).

Lance Williams has been with the Utah Warriors since MLR’s inaugural season in 2018, and has represented them in every season apart from 2020, where he suffered a season-ending injury prior to the truncated season being cancelled after only 5 games. Through the 2023 season, he was one of the league’s most capped players, having appeared in 71 games for the Warriors (67 starts), appearing in every Utah game in the 2019, 2022, and 2023 seasons. He was the 9th player in league history to reach 50 caps in the competition, on 24th April 2022. Williams scored 18 tries in total including a high of 5 in both the 2022 & 2023 seasons, the latter of which he also recorded 181 successful tackles.

Williams is also a strong Sevens player, and has played in Premier Rugby Sevens since 2022, representing the Headliners in both seasons. He has also represented the USA Eagles Sevens Team for the HSBC World Sevens Series in Dubai and Cape Town which took place in December 2022. On 25th September 2023, the Utah Warriors announced the departure of Lance Williams, who is linking up with the USA Eagles Sevens Team for their run to the 2024 Olympics in France.

After spending 2024 with the USA Sevens program, Lance Williams returned to the Utah Warriors part-way through the 2025 season. The team announced his return in an email newsletter on 4th April 2025, just before Round 8 of the regular season, in which the Warriors had a bye. Williams added a 19th career MLR try and started 8 of his 10 appearances for the Warriors in 2025 to help them finish the regular season as MLR’s top team. He also started both of the Utah’s playoff games that season as the Warriors advanced to the Western Conference Final, where they fell to the Houston SaberCats. Following the withdrawal of the Warriors during the 2025/26 offseason, Lance Williams headed to the West Coast and signed with the California Legion for his 7th MLR season, and first not as a Utah Warrior. The Legion confirmed his signing on 3rd March, 2026.

Angus MacLellan

Michigan native Angus MacLellan has played in Major League Rugby since the league’s inaugural season in 2018. He has represented the Utah Warriors for the entirety of his MLR career.

MacLellan played with the USA Selects in 2014 and was selected for the USA Eagles 2015 World Cup training squad before an ACL injury ruled him out of the tournament. He made his full international debut for the USA in June 2016 against Italy and has earned 7 international caps to date. He appeared in (and started) all 9 games for the Utah Warriors in their (and the league’s) inaugural season in 2018, including the semi-final against the Glendale (later Colorado) Raptors, a 34-21 loss.

As of the conclusion of the 2023 season, MacLellan was Major League Rugby’s most capped player having earned 78 caps (52 starts) across his 6 seasons in MLR, all for the Utah Warriors. He has scored 3 tries in his MLR career, 1 in 2018 and 2 in 2019.

On 23rd October 2023, the Utah Warriors announced the return of Angus MacLellan for the 2024 MLR season, where he added another 14 MLR caps and 6 starts to his resume, bringing his career total to 92 MLR appearances, all for the Warriors. MacLellan also recorded 75 tackles in 2024, bringing his career total over the 500 mark. On November 14th, 2024, the Utah Warriors announced the return of Angus MacLellan for his 8th season in MLR, where he became the 3rd player in MLR hsitory to reach 100 games played on 26th April 2025. He is the 2nd player to reach 100 games played with a single team, and the first US-born player to become a MLR Centurion.
