League: Major League Rugby

Founded in 2017 with it’s inaugural season played in 2018, Major League Rugby (MLR) is the highest level of professional rugby in North America.

2019 – RD 15: Glendale Raptors v Utah Warriors

The Glendale Raptors demolish the Utah Warriors in front of a home crowd at Infinity Park. This game tied the MLR record for points scored by a single side in an MLR game (64), after the Toronto Arrows set the record a few weeks earlier. This also tied the record for the most tries scored by a team in a game (9).

Robbie Petzer was the standout for the Raptors, scoring his first MLR hattrick and the 3rd hattrick in Franchise History. Along with his 3 tries, Petzer went 9/10 from the tee for a total of 34pts in this game alone. At the conclusion of the 2023 season, this is still by far the most points scored by a single player in a MLR game.

2019 – RD 13: Seattle Seawolves v NOLA Gold

The Seattle Seawolves put in a huge defensive effort against the NOLA Gold, to emerge victors despite only scoring 1 try to the Gold’s 4.

Seawolves Flankers Brad Tucker and Nakai Penny put in enormous defensive performances. Tucker completed all 28 of his tackles to set a new MLR Single-Game record, surpassing 4 players with 25 including fellow Seattle flanker Eric Duechle. Nakai Penny completed all 27 of his attempts, which would have been a record in itself if not for Tucker’s 28 tackles.
