Ironworkers2021 – RD 14: Seattle Seawolves v Austin Gilgronis
The Seawolves host the AGs at Starfire Stadium.
Seattle winger Lauina Futi opened the scoring early with a try in the 3rd minute. This would be the first of a hattrick of tries that Futi would score in this game, the second hattrick in Seawolves history and the 13th in the history of MLR!
Futi’s hattrick wasn’t the only noteworthy think in this game as, after Seattle scored a try through Tommy Clark in the 79th minute to take them to within 5pts of the AGs, they declined to take the conversion. Instead, they would rather speed up the restart to give them more time to score again which, unfortunately, did not pay off. The Gilgronis left the PNW as 31-36 victors.
2021 – RD 14: Rugby United New York v Utah Warriors
Rugby United New York host the Utah Warriors as they travel to Cochrane Stadium on the east coast!
The Warriors are really earning the nickname ‘Comeback Kings’, as for a third game in a row they came from behind and scored late to snatch victory from teh jaws of defeat! This week, a 77th minute try from Mika Kruse lifted Utah over New York despite a missed conversion, finishing with a scoreline of 28-29 in favour of the visitors.

Seawolves2021 – RD 13: LA Giltinis v Houston SaberCats
The LA Giltinis host the Houston SaberCats as the men from the Lone Star State travel to the pacific.
The travel may have taken it out of the ‘Cats, because this game was very much a one-way affair. A consolation try towards the end of the game was the only time that Houston got on the board and by that point, the Giltinis had already passed the half century.
The final score of 52-5 set a new MLR record for the largest winning margin in league history (47), just surpassing the previous record set by the Toronto Arrows against Seattle (45) set earlier in 2021. This record would stand until Round 11 of the 2022 MLR season, when the Austin Gilgronis would defeat the Dallas Jackals by a score of 3-57, a margin of victory of 54pts.
