2022 – RD 11: Old Glory DC v Utah Warriors
The Utah Warriors travel to the nation’s capital to face Old Glory DC at Segra Field during Round 11 of the 2022 season.
Thanks in part to a late try by Fintan Coleman, converted by Rohan Saifoloi (who went 1/4 from the tee in this game) in the 77th minute, Old Glory squeezed out a win by a score of 22-21. This was DC’s first win of the 2022 season, coming in Round 11.
2022 – RD 10: LA Giltinis v Rugby New York
Rugby New York travel across the country to face the LA Giltinis at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
The hosts broke the stalemate in the 12th minute and never looked back, racking up a final score of 43-0 against a New York side that had beaten the Giltinis just the season before. At the time, this scoreline was the biggest shutout in Major League Rugby history, until the Toronto Arrows would beat the Dallas Jackals 57-0 in Round 15 of the 2022 season. This also marked the biggest defeat in Rugby New York history.
With this victory, the LA Giltinis capture the ‘Champagne Cup’ (contested annually between New York and LA) for the first time, making the contest 1-1 all-time.
