Founded in 2017 with it’s inaugural season played in 2018, Major League Rugby (MLR) is the highest level of professional rugby in North America.

2022 – RD 7: LA Giltinis v San Diego Legion

The LA Giltinis host the San Diego Legion at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Round 7 of the 2022 Major League Rugby Season.

This game marked the first ever contest for the ‘Cali Cup’, an intra-season trophy contested by the California teams similar to the Texas Cup. This was not however the first time these 2 sides had met, playing each other twice in the Giltinis’ 2021 Championship campaign.

In 2021, the Giltinis won both of their games against the Legion, and continued this form into 2022, emerging as 26-13 victors to claim the Cali Cup.

2022 – RD 6: Rugby ATL v Austin Gilgronis

Rugby ATL host the Austin Gilgronis at Silverbacks Park. The Gilgronis were unbeaten heading into this game, with a perfect 5-0 record. A stark change from the team that finished 0-16 in 2019.

The hosts emerged victorious with a 29-14 victory to hand Austin their first defeat of the 2022 campaign, not even salvaging a losing bonus point thanks to a dominant display from the Ratlers.
