2018 RD 3: San Diego Legion v Houston SaberCats

The first clash between the San Diego Legion and the Houston SaberCats in Round 3 of the 2018 season saw a few MLR firsts!

This game marked the first Hattrick in Major League Rugby history, as San Diego Legion centre Anthony Salaber crossed the whitewash 3 times in the first half in a span of 18 minutes in front of a home crowd! The Legion recorded 851m gained in this game, at the time a MLR single-game record.

It also saw the first attempted (and successful!) drop goal in Major League Rugby History, as Fijian rugby legend Osea Kolinisau slotted a 3 pointer late in the 2nd half!

2018 RD 2: San Diego Legion v Utah Warriors

Having had a bye in week 1 of the 2018 season, this game marked the Major League Rugby Debut of the Utah Warriors. It also marked the home debut for the San Diego Legion.

In this game, the Legion’s Pat Blair recorded 21 tackles, and teammate JP du Plessis recorded 23 tackles. This is the first time that a player recorded 20+ successful tackles in a MLR game. The Legion as a team recorded 203 tackles in total, also an MLR first for over 200+ successful tackles made in a game.
