WER 2025 – RD 11: Boston Banshees v Bay Breakers

WER 2025 – RD 9: Boston Banshees v Chicago Tempest

The Boston Banshees host the Chicago Tempest at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, RI during Round 8 of the Women’s Elite Rugby inaugural season!

The Banshees are coming off of a big win on the road against the Bay Breakers, and are looking to build on that momentum into the back half of the season. On the other hand, the Chicago Tempest remain winless and will be keen to show that they should not be underestimated. This is the 2nd meeting between these sides following a huge 12-65 Banshees win in Chicago back in Round 3.

Just like the first meeting between these sides, the Tempest would only manage 12pts on the board, but reduced the points against from 65 to 49. This is the 2nd game in a row where the Boston Banshees have scored 49pts, finishing with a 7 try, 12-49 road victory. Banshees winger Katie Lohaus scored her first 3 WER tries in this game, recording her first WER hat trick!

WER 2025 – RD 7: Boston Banshees v Denver Onyx

The Denver Onyx travel to the East Coast to face the Boston Banshees at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, RI during Round 7 of WER’s inaugural season!

The Onyx come into this match undefeated and with a points difference of +221 in just four games played, and recorded the first shutout in WER history last week when they defeated the Chicago Tempest 0-41. Standing against them today are the 3rd placed Boston Banshees, who are looking to bounce back after a narrow defeat to the New York Exiles last week. This match marks the first ever meeting between these two sides.

The Onyx scored first through KB Slaughter in the 13th minute, and help the lead for the rest of the game. It took them until just before the 50th minute to secure the try bonus point, however. They added a 5th try in the 72nd minute to take the score to 0-25, before the Banshees broke through and scored through replacement Jenni LaFerriere to avoid a shutout. The final score saw the Denver Onyx remain undefeated with a 7-25 road victory, but this is the first time that they have been held to less than 40pts scored, so the Banshees can take some pride in that.
