2025 – RD 17: NOLA Gold v New England Free Jacks

The NOLA Gold host the New England Free Jacks in an Eastern Conference clash to finish the 2025 regular season for both sides!

The Free Jacks have guaranteed a home semifinal with a victory over the Seattle Seawolves last weekend, and are fielding a line-up with plenty of rotation. Are they resting their big guns, or trying out some new ideas? For the NOLA Gold, they know that this is the last game of their season, and will want to go out with a bang, especially if it means throwing a spanner in the works of their conference rivals. The Free Jacks need a win in this game to clinch 1st in the Eastern Conference following a Chigao Hounds win during the week. These teams have met 11 times in the past, with the Free Jacks holding a 7-4 series lead. Their most recent meeting was a narrow 35-31 victory for New England at home.

The New England Free Jacks secure 1st place in the Eastern Conference for the 4th straight season with a 17-21 road victory over the NOLA Gold to end their regular season. They will face the Miami Sharks next week in the Eastern Conference Semi-Final. The NOLA Gold finish a disappointing 2025 season with a 12th loss, and their focus turns to the off-season.

2025 – RD 15: NOLA Gold v Utah Warriors

The NOLA Gold host the Utah Warriors in a cross-conference clash during Round 15 of the 2025 Major League Rugby season!

Currently sat 5th in the Eastern Conference and on a 3-game skid following losses to both Miami and DC, the NOLA Gold are desperate for a win if they want a chance at a post season spot this season. The Utah Warriors are on a 3-game losing streak of their own, but are sat 2nd in the Western Conference. The West is a dogfight however, and they will want to try and get home field advantage, so don’t expect them to roll over!

These teams have met 7 times in the past, with the Gold holding a dominant 6-1 lead in the head to head series.  The Warriors’ lone victory over the gold came this season however, with a big 55-21 victory at Zion’s Bank back in Round 3.

2025 – RD 13: NOLA Gold v Miami Sharks

The Miami Sharks travel to New Orleans and the Gold Mine to face the Gold for a southern showdown in the Eastern Conference! The Sharks are looking to bounce back after a hard fought loss in Chicago snapped their 3-game win streak, with the Gold also looking to get back into the win column after a loss in San Diego. Both teams are desperate for points in the Eastern Conference, and have met each other 3 times. The NOLA Gold have an edge in the all-time series with a 2-1 lead, but the Sharks took the most recent meeting with a 30-25 victory back in Round 2 of the season!

2025 – RD 9: NOLA Gold v Old Glory DC

The NOLA Gold host Old Glory DC in an Eastern Conference Clash at the Gold Mine. Both teams are coming off of victories, with the Flags handing the Seattle Seawolves a decisive defeat on the road, while the Gold picked up a handy victory over Anthem RC for the 2nd time this season! Both are looking to build on their momentum, especially with a resurgent Free Jacks team in the East.

These teams have met 9 times in the past, with the Gold holding a comfortable 6-1-2 lead in the series which featured a draw. In the most recent meeting between these two sides, the Flags edged out a 27-24 victory at home thanks to a pair of Perry Humphreys tries. Will history repeat itself on the road?

2025 – RD 7: NOLA Gold v Chicago Hounds

The NOLA Gold host Eastern Conference rivals the Chicago Hounds in a repeat of the 2024 Eastern Conference Semifinal!

Both sides are coming off of bye weeks in Round 6, with the Gold still trying to kick into gear. The Hounds lead the Eastern Conference, and will be looking to extend the gap to their Eastern Conference rivals here. These teams have met 4 times in the past, including 3 times in the regular season where the NOLA Gold hold a 2-1 series lead. The last meeting between these sides, however, was in the 2024 Eastern Conference Semifinal, when the hounds got the better of the Gold with a 27-42 victory on the road to end NOLA’s season.

2025 – RD 6: NOLA Gold v Rugby FC LA

Rugby FC LA travel to Louisiana to take on the NOLA Gold at the Gold Mine in a cross-conference clash during Round 6 of the 2025 Major League Rugby season! RFCLA are coming off their first win of the season over the Seattle Seawolves in front of a home crowd, while the NOLA Gold are still trying to kick-start their season after coming off a last-minute (in fact, an 82nd minute…) defeat at the hands of the New England Free Jacks.

2025 – RD 1: NOLA Gold v Anthem RC

The NOLA Gold, fresh off their first playoff appearance in 2024, start their 2025 campaign by playing host to Anthem RC, who look to improve on their 0-16 record from their first season.

The home team came out flying, securing the Try Bonus Point after just over 30 minutes, before settling into the game. A new look Anthem RC side didn’t give up, eventually claiming a pair of tries themselves, but the Gold never really looked back after their lightning quick start. A final score of 35-14 to the hosts get the NOLA Gold’s 2025 season off to a flying start. For an Anthem side that have 15 ARC debuts, there was promising spells but they were blown away.

2024 Eastern Conference SF 2 – NOLA Gold v Chicago Hounds

The NOLA Gold (#2) host the Chicago Hounds (#3) at the Gold Mine in the first MLR playoff game for both clubs, and a spot in the Eastern Conference Final on the line. These two teams split the regular season series 1-1, with both road teams taking the win, and the Hounds edge the aggregate score 51-46.

The hosts would take an early lead, possibly better adjusted to the Louisiana humidity. A Rodney Iona penalty was built on by a scything run by Jordan Jackson-Hope to finish in the corner gave the Gold a 8-0 lead after a missed conversion, before the Chicago Hounds took their turn. A Luke Carty penalty followed by a trademark Dylan Fawsitt off the back of a maul, his 13th of the season and first of the 2024 playoffs. Carty added the extras for a narrow lead at the first water break. Carty’s boot extended the visitors lead before 2023 draft pick Julian Roberts hit back for the Gold, levelling the scores at 13-13 following another missed conversion. Iona was true from the boot with a penalty not long after however, to swing the lead back towards the hosts and give them a 3pt lead just after the half hour mark. Unfortunately for the Gold, this is where things got messy. Jordan Jackson-Hope received a yellow card that really hindered the NOLA defence, and Julian Dominguez was able to barrel through 3 would-be tacklers to shift the lead back to the hosts before the HT break.

Still with 14 men when play resumed, the Gold would concede again off the restart thanks to a lucky bounce and opportunistic score for Nate Augspurger, and the Chicago Hounds now held a commanding 16-23 lead which was extended around 10 minutes later by the boot of Luke Carty once again. NOLA would hit back through Jonah Mau’u on a phenomenal line from a line-out, and some poor Chicago tackling saw him go all the way to close the gap to 5pts, but this would be the final score from the hosts. 5 minutes later and seemingly from nowhere, Hounds Captain Billy Meakes burst through the NOLA line to score his first try of the season, which visibly thumped the wind out of the Gold’s sails. Alex Lopeti would receive NOLA’s 2nd yellow card shortly afterwards and a dejected Gold side would concede a 5th and 6th try (James Scott and Jason Higgins respectively) in the final 15 to really blow out the score. A 21-45 road victory for the Chicago Hounds will see them advance to face the New England Free Jacks in the Eastern Conference Final in Quincy.

The NOLA Gold end their first playoff campaign early, and will turn their focus to the off-season.

2024 – RD 17: NOLA Gold v New England Free Jacks

The NOLA Gold host the New England Free Jacks in Louisiana, with a chance for the visitors to lock in the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

The Gold had other ideas however. Although the Free Jacks got on the board first through a Reece MacDonald penalty, NOLA hit back with 3 quick tries to stun the guests and take a 19-3 lead by the first water break. Former Free Jack Taniela Filimone scored NOLA’s third tryr for his 10th of the 2024 season.

The scoreline remained 19-3 at the break, but Foster DeWitt struck back for the Free Jacks early in the 2nd half, cutting the deficit to 9 after the conversion. The Gold would respond through Jordan Jackson-Hope and their lead was back up to 14pts, but the Free Jacks wouldn’t go away, responing themselves and cutting the lead to 7 with 20 minutes to play. Only a Rodney Iona penalty in the 75th minute finally dispatched the Free Jacks, who remain top of the Eastern Conference, but now only 2pts ahead of the Gold.

2024 – RD 14: NOLA Gold v Houston SaberCats

The NOLA Gold host the league-leading Houston SaberCats at the Gold Mine in a cross-conference clash.

With a comfortable 7-21 road victory, the Houston SaberCats become the first team to clinch a spot in the 2024 MLR Playoffs, the 3rd year in a row that the ‘Cats have made the post-season!
