2025 – RD 14: Chicago Hounds v Rugby FC LA

The Chicago Hounds host Rugby FC LA in a cross-conference, Monday night affair at Seatgeek Stadium, sporting their 2025 city edition jerseys. This is the first of the Hounds’ two mid-week games in 2025, and they will travel to face Anthem RC at the weekend on a 5-day turnaround. The visiting RFCLA have an even tighter schedule, as they will fly back to LA to host the Miami Sharks in just 4 days time.

The Chicago Hounds are looking to bounce back after a defeat at the hands of the New England Free Jacks in Quincy, and capitalise on the Free Jacks’ loss to Miami this week. RFCLA are still fighting for their playoff lives after a big win against Anthem RC, and look to stay ahead of the surging Seattle Seawolves. These teams have only met once before, with the Hounds taking a 54-31 victory back in Round 8 of the 2024 season.

2025 – RD 14: Anthem RC v Old Glory DC

Old Glory DC travel to Charlotte to face Anthem RC in an Eastern Conference clash. The flags are on a tight turnaround after hosting the NOLA Gold 5 days ago. Anthem RC have already been mathematically eliminated from the 2025 playoffs and are still looking for their first ever win as a franchise, with nearly 30 games under their belt. Old Glory DC are looking to keep their playoff hunt alive, and are coming off of a comfortable 27-14 victory over the NOLA Gold and are looking to keep up their momentum.

These teams have met 3 times in the past, with Anthem RC yet to defeat the flags. It proved another tough outing for the USA’s rising stars. The visitors took the lead within 10 minutes, before Anthem took the lead with a 7pt try from Dylan Fortune. From that point however, it was all DC. The Flags retook the lead a minute later through Damien Hoyland, and had locked up the try BP before half time. Another two tries by Anthem RC were cancelled out by another 3 scores for DC, who locked up a bonus point victory with a final score of 19-41 to give Old Glory’d playoff hunt a big boost.

2025 – RD 14: Seattle Seawolves v San Diego Legion

Another chapter in the oldest rivalry in MLR is written as the Seattle Seawolves host the San Diego Legion in Round 14 of the 2025 Major League Rugby season! The Seawolves are coming off an excellent road win over the Utah Warriors, and are looking to keep their playoff hunt alive. The San Diego Legion are looking to bounce back from  heavy defeat to the Houston SaberCats at home.

These teams have met 16 times in the past, with the Legion holding a 8-5 lead in regular season meetings but the Seawolves are 3-0 against San Diego in the post-season, tying the all-time series at 8-8. Who will break the deadlock in this one?

2025 – RD 14: Miami Sharks v New England Free Jacks

The Miami Sharks host the defending champion New England Free Jacks for an Eastern Conference clash in Florida! The New England Free Jacks are the first team to clinch a 2025 playoff spot after the NOLA Gold failed to earn a point in Tuesday’s clash with Old Glory DC, but the Free Jacks will want to lock up home advantage. They come off a well earned victory over the Chicago Hounds in Round 13. The Miami Sharks are still fighting for their first ever playoff appearance, and will want to build on a brilliant road victory over the NOLA Gold in Round 12.These teams have met 3 times in the past, with the Free Jacks holding a 2-1 series lead.

With a well played, bonus point victory for the Sharks, the head-to-head series is tied up at 2-2 with the Free Jacks looking a little off their usual game. The Florida heat led to many handling errors, but a pair of crossfield kicks gave Miami two tries and a narrow lead at half time, and a Guiseppe Du Toit score early in the 2nd half kept the momentum on the side of the hosts. Keeping the scoreboard moving through the boot of Shane O’Leary, the Sharks were up to a 23-7 lead before the Free Jacks scored their first points of the 2nd half through Wian Conradie in the 63rd minute.

The Sharks would hit back with a 4th try just 5 minutes later, and although the Free Jacks would add a 3rd try of their own in the dying stages, they had too much work to do and not enough time. The Sharks take the full 5 points and snap the Free Jacks’ 7-game win streak, while New England take 0 points.
