Onehunga Havili was part of the Tongan U14 side that toured New Zealand, where he caught the eyes of Sacred Heart College in Auckland, who recruited him. He played with the Blues U18 side before entering the Western Force system in Perth, Australia. He earned his debut with the Force’s National Rugby Championship (NRC) side, the Perth Spirit, in 2016, and made the jump to the Super Rugby side soon after, earning his Super Rugby debut for the Western Force in 2017. That same year, he was selected for the Tongan national side where he earned his test debut, and earned 10 appearances for Tonga between 2017-2024.
Havili made the move to Europe the following year, joining the Exeter Chiefs and representing the English club in both the Premiership and Premiership Rugby Cup competitions during the 2018/19 season. Following a year in the UK, he headed to France to join Aurillac in the Pro D2, playing there from 2020-2022. The Utah Warriors announced the signing of Havili in the run up to the 2023 campaign, where he made over 100 tackles and gained an impressive 706m in possession in his 14 appearances (10 starts), scoring a pair of tries. He returned for a second season with the Warriors in 2024, matching his tries scored and earning a further 13 appearances.
