Californian lock Taylor Krumrei played in Major League Rugby between 2018-2025. He represented the Seattle Seawolves (2018-2021, 2023-2025) and the NOLA Gold (2022).
A native of Moraga, CA, Krumrei began playing rugby for Lamorinda Rugby Club while in his final year at Campolindo High School in 2010. He then attended the University of Oregon from 2010-2014 and continued to play while there. Following his graduation, Krumrei moved up to Washington and began to play with Seattle Rugby Club, where he has played continuously with the exception of a 4 month stint in Waikato in New Zealand. Upon his return to Seattle and Seattle Rugby Club, Krumrei signed with the Seattle Seawolves ahead of MLR’s inaugural season in 2018.
During his first stint with the Seawolves, Krumrei earned 16 starts in 21 appearances, scoring his lone try in 2018 and helping the Seawolves to back-to-back MLR shields in 2018-2019, starting the 2018 Championship game and recording a career high 92 tackles in 2019. Krumrei suffered an injury that ruled him out of the entire 2021 MLR season and, when he had recovered from this injury, he signed with the NOLA Gold for the 2022 season, earning 4 starts in 5 games. Following a season in New Orleans, Krumrei returned to Seattle and the Seawolves for 2023 onwards. He earned 26 appearances between 2023-2024, including a career high 15 in 2024 when he ran for 103m gained in possession, just 4m shy of his career high of 107m gained way back in 2018.
Through 2024, Taylor Krumrei has earned 25 starts in 52 MLR games, 47 of which were for the Seattle Seawolves whom he has helped to two MLR Shields and three Championship Games. His return for 2025 was confirmed when he was included on the full roster for the Seattle Seawolves on January 14th, 2025.
