Oregon native Syrah Starnes played in Women’s Elite Rugby during the 2026 season. She represented the Chicago Tempest for her entire WER career.

A native of Corvallis, OR, Syrah Starnes was a Trak & Field athlete while attending Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR between 2017-2020. She enrolled at the University of Notre Dame to earn her PHD and began playing rugby for the Fighting Irish while there. Starnes was named a D1 Collegiate All-American in both 2022 & 2023, and was also playing club rugby with Chicago North Shore in the WPL. Syrah Starnes was included on the Chicago Tempest roster for their WER campaign in 2026 and was named in the reserves for their first match of the season against the Twin Cities Gemini.
