Canadian-eligible South African scrum-half Ross Braude played in Major League Rugby between 2021-2023. He represented the Toronto Arrows for his entire MLR career.
Braude was a part of the Bulls age-grade sides that won under-19 and under-21 championships in 2019 and 2020, respectively. He also played with the South Africa U18 Sevens team before switching his focus to Canada (for whom he is eligible through his Montreal-born father), and signed with the Arrows in February 2021, ahead of that year’s MLR season.
Over his 3 seasons with the Arrows, Braude cemented himself as the starting 9, appearing in a total of 36 MLR games (32 starts) including 15 in 2023 when he led the Arrows in tries scored, scoring 6 of his 9 MLR tries that season. He also completed over 100 tackles and gained over 400m, helping to earn him the Arrows’ 2023 Back of the Year. He was seen by many to be the Arrows’ best player of the 2023 season, earning 3 of his 6 MLR Team of the Week selections that year.
On 10th November 2023, the Arrows announced that Ross Braude had left the organisation, and was playing with the MRU Airlink Pumas in South Africa’s Currie Cup competition.
