Alberta native Nick Taylor played in Major League Rugby during the 2021 and 2023 seasons. He represented the Seattle Seawolves (2021) and the Chicago Hounds (2023).
Born in Texas but raised in Calgary, Nick Taylor was the only Canadian-eligible draftee in his class. The Lindenwood product was selected 17th overall by the Seattle Seawolves in MLR’s inaugural Collegiate Draft in 2020. He made his MLR debut for Seattle on May 2nd, 2021 against Rugby United New York and this was the only MLR action Taylor made that year.
Following the 2021 season, Taylor moved to Texas and began playing with the Austin Blacks. He spent the 2022 MLR Preseason with the Austin Gilgronis and represented their academy side in the midfield, but did not feature at MLR level. With the Chicago Hounds entering the league ahead of the 2023 season, Taylor was signed to a trial contract and must’ve made an impression, as he appeared as a reserve for the Hounds’ Week 14 clash against the side that drafted him, the Seattle Seawolves.
In August 2023, Nick Taylor joined the Indiana University’s Men’s club as an Assistant Coach, and was named as an assistant for the NCR High Performance Griffins squad for the Algarve 7s in June, 2025 where they went undefeated.
