Minnesota native Kathryn ‘KJ’ Johnson played in Women’s Elite Rugby between 2025-2026. She represented the Twin Cities Gemini for her entire WER career.

Capped USA Eagle KJ Johnson was named in the starting lineup for TC Gemini’s first ever game on 23rd March, 2025. She is capped for the USA at both 15s and 7s levels. Johnson is a 2016 Olympian with the Team USA Rugby Sevens squad, finishing 5th in Rio. She has played with the San Clemente Rhinos Rugby Academy in the Rugby Tens Championship in 2024 and 2025, and has represented Experts in the PR7s and the Twin Cities Amazons in the WPL.

Johnson earned 8 appearances for the TC Gemini during the inaugural season of WER competition, starting all 8 of her games and scoring a pair of tries. She returned for a second season with the Gemini in 2026.
