Alaska native Kathryn Treder played in Women’s Elite Rugby during it’s inaugural season in 2025. She represented the Bay Breakers for her entire WER career.
An Anchorage native of Inupiaq heritage, Kathryn Treder was a state wrestling champion and played multiple sports growing up, but didn’t discover rugby until attending Stanford University in 2014. She caught the eye of the US national team during the 2019 WPL all-star tournament, and earned her test debut as Eagle #294 against Canada that same year. Treder represented the USA at the 2021 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, before heading to England to join the Darlington Mowden Park (DMP) Sharks in 2023, then the Loughborough Lightning for the 2023/24 PWR season, scoring a remarkable 19 tries in 27 games in her first two seasons with the Lightning, before returning to the US to participate in WER.
The capped USA Eagle earned her WER debut in Round 2 of the 2025 season, when she was named on the bench for the Bay Breakers against the Denver Onyx, the first game in Breakers history. She earned 2 appearances (1 start) for the Breakers during the inaugural WER season, and represented the Eagles at her 2nd Rugby World Cup later in England following the season, returning to the Lightning for the 2025/26 season. Treder was included in the USA Eagles’ UK Alignment Camp roster in early 2026.
