New Zealand born Samoan scrum-half Danny Tusitala played in Major League Rugby between 2020-2024. He represented Old Glory DC for his entire MLR career.
Tusitala played with Samoa A in the Americas Pacific Challenge in 2016 and earned 3 full test caps for Samoa later that year, with his most recent international cap coming against Canada in November 2016. He moved to France to play with Aurillac in the French Pro D2 competition between 2017-2019, during which time he also represented the Samoan Sevens team in the HSBC Sevens Series. Tusitala also played with the Hawke’s Bay Magpies following the 2021 MLR season, retaining the Ranfurly Shield with a 7-1 record.
Tusitala signed with MLR expansion side Old Glory DC ahead of their inaugural season in 2020, starting all 5 games before the COVID-19 pandemic caused the cancellation of the season. Tusitala has represented the Flags in every MLR season in which they have competed, and was the first (and through the 2023 season, only) player in MLR history to start all 50 of a club’s first 50 MLR games, and is DC’s most capped player with 55 MLR caps to date (54 starts) including both of Old Glory’s Championship Series games in 2023, the club’s first ever visit to the MLR post-season. In his 55 caps, he has scored 12 tries and 85pts total (8/10 from the tee – 80.00%).
On 4th January 2024, Old Glory DC announced the return of Danny Tusitala for a 5th MLR Season in 2024.
