Born and raised in Hamilton, MI, Cole van Harn discovered rugby while at the University of Michigan, where he played for the Wolverines at both 7s and 15s levels. He was a part of the team that captured a Big Ten Title in 2014, and the Wolverines Sevens team that won back-to-back Collegiate Rugby Championship titles. While at college, van Harn spent a summer playing rugby in New Zealand with Poneke Football Club in Wellington. After graduating from the University of Michigan, van Harn moved to Seattle and joined the Seattle Saracens, playing in the BC Men’s Premier division before signing with the Seattle Seawolves ahead of MLR’s inaugural season in 2018.
Cole van Harn earned 6 appearances for the Seawolves during his (and their) debut seasons, qualifying for the playoffs and eventually lifting the inaugural MLR Shield after defeating the Glendale Raptors in the Championship Game. Van Harn came off the bench in both Seattle playoff games, taking his appearance total to 8 for his first professional year. Van Harn returned for a second season with Seattle in 2019, earning another pair of appearances in the Seawolves’ 2019 title campaign, finishing as a MLR Champion for the second time in as many seasons.
Cole van Harn has since retired from professional rugby, and now works as a cidermaker with Farmhaus Cider in his native Michigan.
