Miln attended Hamilton Boys’ High School in New Zealand before moving to Australia, joining the Randwick Galloping Greens in the Shute Shield Competition. He earned his pro debut in 2022 after moving to Japan, playing with the Munakata Sanix Blues in Division 3 of the JRLO before returning to Randwick. In 2024, he moved from Randwick to the Warringah Rats and finished as the Shute Shield’s top points scorer with 217pts scored in the 2024 season. Following his performances with Warringah, Miln earned a spot on the Western Force squad for their 2024 tour of South Africa, and was called into the Western Force Super Rugby side in March of 2025 as injury cover, where he earned his Super Rugby debut against the Crusaders in Round 5.

On 7th March, 2026, the California Legion announced the addition of the 26yo fly-half for their inaugural MLR campaign in 2026. Coby Miln appeared in all 12 games for the California Legion in his debut season in North America, scoring 95pts during the 10 game regular season and earning Player of the Week honours in their huge Round 2 victory over the New England Free Jacks, the first win in team history. The Legion would qualify for the 2026 postseason in 3rd with a 5-5 record and Miln would add another 35pts in just two playoff games, including a 23pt game in the Legion’s Semifinal victory over the Seattle Seawolves, setting a new MLR record for the most points ever scored by a single player in a playoff game. The Legion would fall to the Chicago Hounds in the Championship Game, but Coby Miln finished the season as MLR’s Top Scorer with an impressive 130pts in just 12 games with a success rate of 85.94% from the tee (55/64). For his performance that season, Miln was named to the All-MLR Second XV for the 2026 season. On 22nd July 2026, New Zealand provincial side North Harbour announced that Miln was joining them for the 2026 NPC season.
