French scrum-half Mickaël Romera played in Major League Rugby between 2018-2019. He represented the Austin Elite for his entire MLR career.

A native of Montpellier in the south of France, Mickaël Romera began playing rugby at a young age and developed in the Montpellier academy system between 2013-2017, during which time he also represented the French U19s side. He joined Oyonnax during the 2017/18 season, representing the team in the Challenge Cup against Connacht. Romera headed across the pond towards the end of Oyonnax’s season to join the Austin Elite for Major League Rugby’s inaugural season, earning his Austin debut before missing a significant portion of the season due to injury.

Despite this setback, Romera returned for a second season in Texas in 2019, where he started 6 of his 10 appearances and also took charge of kicking duties for the Elite at times, scoring 7 conversions and 6 penalties in total for 32pts. In possession, the scrum-half racked up over 100m gained while making a relatively high 75 tackles in defence. Romera did not return for a 3rd season in MLR in 2020, and has since turned his attention to Trailrunning, although he has been playing with Rugby Club Aubagnais and US Seynoise in the French Fédérale, and most recently with amateur side Racing Club Pradetan
