Argentine flanker Tomy de la Vega played in Major League Rugby between 2020-2022. He represented the Toronto Arrows for his entire MLR career.
Buenos Aires native de la Vega represented the Los Pumas U20 side at two IRB World Rugby U20 Championships between 2009-2010 and played with Club Universitario de Buenas Aires (CUBA) in Argentina since 2010, as well as playing with Pampas XV from 2011-2014. De la Vega earned his full test debut for Los Pumas against Chile in May 2011, and earned 12 caps for the Argentinian National Team between 2011-2014. He continued to play for CUBA, and returned to International rugby with Argentina XV for the 2017 & 2018 ARC competitions. De la Vega is a man of many talents, and is an attorney as well as professional athlete.
De la Vega originally had a deal to join MLR with the New England Free Jacks, but when this fell through he joined the Toronto Arrows ahead of the 2020 season. He appeared in all 5 games of the truncated 2020 season before the COVID-19 Pandemic cancelled the rest of the season. He was in the league’s Top 10 tacklers in 2020 and would prove a fearsome tackler throughout his time in MLR. He earned 29 caps (26 starts) with the Arrows across 3 seasons, scoring 5 tries (including 4 in 2021) and completing 383 tackles including a huge 222 in the 2021 season when he finished 2nd league-wide behind teammate Lucas Rumball.
Despite spending 3 seasons with Toronto, de la Vega did not play an MLR game in Toronto until 2023, due to starting the 2020 season on the road and playing the 2021 season out of Atlanta.
