New Zealand winger Mason Emerson played in Major League Rugby during the truncated 2020 season. He represented the Colorado Raptors for his entire MLR career.

Having played rugby through school and representing the New Zealand Schools team in 2014, Emerson joined the Hawke’s Bay Magpies in 2015 and was selected to represent the New Zealand U20s in 2016. He played with Hawke’s Bay in New Zealand’s Mitre 10 Cup (now the NPC) from 2015-2021, during which time he was signed by the Colorado Raptors for the 2020 MLR season.

Emerson appeared in 4 of the Raptors’ 5 games in 2020 before the season was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, starting them all. At the point the season was cancelled, Emerson was sat 3rd in the league for meters gained, on 411. He did not return to MLR for the 2021 season, instead moving to Valence Romans Drôme Rugby in France, where he played from 2021-2023.
