South African fly-half Kurt Coleman played in Major League Rugby from 2020-2023. He represented Rugby ATL for his entire MLR career, and ATL‘s entire time in the league
Coleman played youth rugby with the Eastern Province Kings in 2008, and represented Western Province at age-grade levels between 2009-2011. He then joined the Western Province senior side, playing in the Currie Cup and the Stormers in Super Rugby (Prior to their joining the URC), before playing in the PRO 14 with the Southern Kings for the 2017/18 season.
Coleman joined Rugby ATL ahead of their inaugural season in 2020, starting all 5 games before the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, after scoring 36pts from the boot to finish 8th in league scoring. He earned another 5 caps for in the 2021 season as the RATLers advanced to the Championship Final, falling 31-17 to the LA Giltinis at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Coleman played with Rugby ATL from 2020-2023, earning 34 caps in total (21 starts), scoring 3 tries and 174pts in total including a high of 83pts in 2022, finishing 6th in MLR scoring. He is Rugby ATL’s all-time leading points scorer, and at the conclusion of the 2023 season, he was the 15th highest points scorer in MLR history.
On 27th June 2023, Kurt Coleman announced an end to his professional playing career at the age of 33.
