BC native Guiseppe du Toit played in Major League Rugby between 2019-2022, and again between 2024-2025. He represented the Toronto Arrows (2019-2022) and the Miami Sharks (2024-2025).
Du Toit attended the University of Victoria between 2013-2018, playing rugby for the UVic Vikes throughout. He represented the Canadian U20 side in 2015 and played with the BC Bears between 2017-2018, during which time he also played with Canada A in the Americas Pacific Challenge. He earned his full test debut for Canada against Chile in February 2017 during the ARC, and represented his country through the 2018 iteration and their 2019 Rugby World Cup qualifying campaign. His last test cap came at that World Cup in Japan, against South Africa.
Du Toit is an original Arrow, having played in the club’s first ever game in 2017 against the Glendale Raptors, and spent 4 seasons playing with Toronto, earning a total of 33 caps between 2019-2022 (31 starts), scoring 7 tries. In 2020, he joined the Trinity Western University Rugby team as the backs coach and would later attend TWU himself, playing there between 2021-2023. Du Toit did not play in the 2023 MLR season, but the Miami Sharks expansion side announced his signing on 7th January 2024, ahead of their inaugural MLR season in 2024.
Du Toit appeared in all 16 games of the Sharks’ inaugural MLR season, starting 6 times and scoring 1 try on 264m gained in possession as the Sharks finished with a respected 6-10 record, including a shock victory over the reigning champion New England Free Jacks. With the Sharks not qualifying for the MLR post-season, du Toit joined the Vancouver Highlanders (Canada’s only Pro Rugby Team following the demise of the Arrows) for their ‘Rugby Players’ Challenge’ exhibition season in summer/fall 2024, making his Highlanders debut against the German national side in July 2024. On 3rd November 2024, the Miami Sharks announced the return of Guiseppe du Toit for their 2025 MLR campaign.
