Uruguayan hooker Facundo Gattas played in Major League Rugby between 2022-2024. Internationally capped for Uruguay, he represented Old Glory DC for his entire MLR career.
Gattas’ signing was announced in March 2022, after the MLR season had already begun. His debut season in North America was cut short after an injury in his 2nd game ruled him out for the season. He returned in 2023 earning 13 caps as Old Glory DC earned their first ever post-season appearance, where Gattas featured as a replacement in both of their 2023 Championship Series games, falling to the eventual champions the New England Free Jacks in the Eastern Conference Final by a score of 25-7.
On September 14th 2023, while Gattas was with Los Teros at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France, Old Glory DC announced the re-signing of Gattas for the 2024 MLR season, alongside fellow Uruguayan international and former NOLA Gold lock, Ignacio Dotti. Gattas scored 5 tries in 10 games (8 starts) for the Flags in 2024, setting career highs in both metres gained and tackles completed as Old Glory DC qualified for the MLR playoffs for the 2nd season in a row. Gattas began their Eastern Conference Final clash against the New England Free Jacks, running them close, but falling 29-33 to the eventual Champions.
