US-eligible English lock Charlie Hewitt played in Major League Rugby between 2018-2025. He represented the Houston SaberCats (2018-2019), the Rugby New York Ironworkers (2020-2023), and the San Diego Legion (2024-2025).

Hewitt played with the Exeter Chiefs academy and represented the England U18 side, before signing with London Scottish in the English Championship. He moved to the Worcester Warriors in the English Premiership between 2015-2017, earning a Premiership debut in 2016 and appearing in the Challenge Cup in 2017.

Hewitt made the move stateside ahead of MLR’s inaugural season in 2018, signing with the Houston SaberCats and appearing in all 8 games during the regular season, starting 7 and scoring his first MLR try while also serving as the SaberCats Academy coach. Unfortunately for Hewitt, he suffered an injury prior to the 2019 season that ruled him out for the entire MLR season. Hewitt moved from Houston to play with Rugby United New York during the 2020 season, starting 2 games before the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the season after only 5 rounds. Hewitt played with New York for 3 more seasons after the league returned in 2021, and was a stalwart in the New York lineup, earning 47 caps (22 starts) for the Ironworkers between 2021-2023, and earned a career-high of 11 starts in 2022, when Rugby New York lifted the MLR shield following a 30-15 victory over the Seattle Seawolves after a controversial playoffs. Hewitt is US-eligible through residency, and has represented the USA Selects.

On April 30th 2023, Hewitt became the 46th player in MLR history to reach 50 caps earned in the competition. In early December 2023, MLR and the Rugby New York Ironworkers announced that the team would not compete in the 2024 season, a week after the Toronto Arrows announced the same. In the subsequent Dispersal Draft, Hewitt was selected 10th overall by the San Diego Legion. The Legion confirmed this signing on 2nd January, 2024 ahead of the 2024 season. He earned 11 appearances for the Legion (3 starts) scoring 1 try and passing 1000 career meters gained in MLR. On 4th November 2024, the San Diego Legion announced the return of Charlie Hewitt for their 2025 Campaign.
